In the wake of an outpouring of support from the community and Cardinal Alumni, at least one Middlefield business is also pledging financial support to the school district. On Tuesday, February 14, 2017, members of Chem Technologies, Ltd. presented Cardinal Local School District Superintendent, Dr. Scott J. Hunt with a check for $60,000. The money will assist the district in securing a higher ending balance in their general fund budget at the end of fiscal year 2017. By Kim Breyley, Middlefield Post The new 36,000 square foot Chem Technologies plant is now in operation on 13 acres proximate to the existing head office and facility on the east end of Middlefield. This is the first of seven phases. Chem Technologies Ltd. is preparing another expansion. The custom mixer just opened a 36,000-sq.-ft. building down the road from its primary base of operations. That first phase currently houses the firm's eighth mixing line, with a ninth on the way. Chem Tech is about to begin construction of the second phase, which would house at least its 10th line and possibly more depending on market conditions.... read full article

Chem Tech’s CEO Jim Schill entertained and educated the Geauga Growth Partnership members on Sept. 11 at Bistro 608 at Grandview just north of Middlefield. Schill shared his career history which began with Burton Rubber, to co-establishing Elastochem in Chardon, to founding Gold Key in Middlefield and now he heads the rapidly-growing Chem Technologies in Middlefield. In his nonchalant entertaining style, Schill shared the key ingredients to starting a business and keeping it healthy.
